The Challenge
A UK-based micro-enterprise planned to import lubricant products into Great Britain (GB). As the importer of record, the business needed to comply with UK REACH before placing products on the market.
Although the non-UK manufacturer held EU REACH registrations for the 43 products, it was unclear whether the registration dossiers or underlying data could be relied upon for UK REACH purposes. The client faced a tight commercial timeline and had limited internal regulatory resources. The product portfolio was complex, including both key constituents and specialist low-volume substances.

Our Role
ACRE designed a proportionate UK REACH compliance strategy that aligned with the client’s commercial priorities and micro-enterprise status. This avoided unnecessary upfront cost and regulatory overreach.
We clarified the UK REACH inquiry and registration process, advised on substance identification and tonnage planning and assessed options for accessing existing data through Letters of Access. We also advised on managing low-volume substances, future tonnage triggers and realistic compliance timelines. This gave the client a clear understanding of risk, cost and sequencing.

The Outcome
The client gained a clear and achievable UK REACH compliance roadmap. This supported confident planning for market entry, reduced regulatory risk and kept costs under control. The strategy also provided a scalable framework for future growth.
